Né à Aix-en-Provence, Jean-Yves Bart vit et travaille à Strasbourg (Alsace) depuis 2005.
Conquistador de l'inutile, il est le premier homme à avoir posé le pied dans tous les Strasbourg du monde, matérialisant ainsi par la photographie une communauté jusqu'ici invisible. Ce pélérinage est documenté sur ce site, sur la page Facebook 16 x Strasbourg ou encore sur Instagram. Un ouvrage est en préparation pour 2025.
En parallèle, il mène un travail de documentation systématique des 526 communes du Bas-Rhin, tirées au sort et explorées tour à tour, dont les résultats sont exposés sur la page du Bas-Rhin aléatoire.

Jean-Yves Bart grew up in the South of France but has been living and working in Strasbourg (at the country's northeastern edge) since 2005. A conquistador of the useless, he is the first man to ever set foot in all Strasb(o)urgs in the world - in the process bringing to light an invisible community through photography. This endeavor is documented on this site, on the Facebook page 16 x Strasbourg and on Instagram. A book is slated to be published in 2025.
For a separate project, Bart has also been systematically exploring Alsatian villages, towns and cities, drawn randomly. Portraits of these places are for now visible on the Bas-Rhin aléatoire page.
